Hi Sunbody,. . I purchased my fantastic hat last August just before I was leaving for a work trip to Tanzania. I had wanted something that would keep the harsh sun off me since we were going to film with the Hadza - one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa and the world. The people are very warm and friendly and have very few possessions. One of them, Wande, was kind enough to decorate my hat with some of her beads. It was a great hat before....but the beads make it even more memorable. I've attached two photos for your July contest: one with me in the hat, and one with Wande, the artist.. . thank you,. This is the hat that Reata Brannaman wears and is shown wearing in Buck, the movie.

Reata first bought the unshaped SunBody hats and shaped them herself, selling them at Buck Brannaman's horse clinics. Recently, she's had us do the shaping, too. (pronounced: Ree-AH- tuh) (When you order a Reata, it will arrive shaped, just as it is in the photo.)

Measure Your Head

Guatemalan Hats

The Guatemalan hat (most of the hats on our website) have a foam-padded cotton twill sweatband that tends to shrink about 1% with heat and moisture. This is about 1/2 of a hat size (1/16" diameter). If you are buying a GUATEMEALAN hat, we recommend buying a hat that is just a little bit loose to allow for this shrinkage. This usually means buying one size larger than you normally wear.

Mexican Hats

The Mexican palm leaf hats have an imitation leather sweatband that does not shrink and they tend to run a little large. On the Mexican hats you should buy your normal size.

To Determine Your Hat Size:

Measure around your head where you wear your hats in inches (circumference).
Use the following chart to determine your hat size:

The perfect hat

I volunteer at Special Equestrian Riding Therapy (SERT) where we help riders with special needs. I saw this hat on Reata in "Buck" (I won't tell you how many times I saw the movie in the theater and rented it before I finally bought the DVD.) I wore it all summer and because of the design of the palm leaves, my hat didn't blow off once....very important when you don't want horses to be startled in the arena. It was the perfect hat and it is my favorite hat!

Great hat!!

I'm ordering a replacement for the one I've worn out after many years of hard wear. It protects my face and neck from the sun, keeps me dry in heavy rain and looks great.

Terrible

Ordered a Reata hat June 8th. Supposed to be here July 1. Still haven’t seen this hat. Summer is almost over I gave up caring about it. Customer service doesn’t know how to answer emails so I can’t do anything about the money I spent on a hat i never got. Would not recommend

Bad shipment

I ordered a hat that took almost over a month to shop and now that it says it’s shipped I still have waited 2 weeks for this hat. Still have not got it. Even tried to email Sunbody and have got no response.
